Despite being at the forefront of IT for several decades this is my first ever blog entry.
I've set up this site to try to bring my experience, thinking and always evolving understanding of IT and Information Management.
The views on here reflect my own opinions based on my experience. Some of them will be based on comprehensive knowledge and experience some will be based on less. My aim is to always explain the basis of my opinion when I express them.
Obviously much of my experience comes from my years of work across many companies. I will not be divulging any of their commercial secrets, but there may be some embarrassing stories along the way.
Like every organisation I've ever worked for, we currently have issues joining up data -from different, older, siloed systems. Bringing it all together means operations improve, automation becomes possible, the dreamt of digital organisation becomes a real possibility, it opens up analytics to improve decisions, yes in the boardroom but in real time at peoples desks while they are taking calls.
